Curtiss JN-4 (Jenny)
The Curtiss JN-4 was probably the best known North American aircraft of WW1.
A two seat duel control machine, powered by the simple but effective Curtiss V8 water cooled engine - the OX-5. To confirm the durability of these aircraft many were still flying well into the late 1920's.
This particular 'Tycos' altimeter is a large 'drum' type instrument and was fixed away from the main panel. It is in very good original condition retaining 95% of the original 'olive green drab' paint used by the U.S. Signal Corp. It also responds well to barometric pressure variations.
Dial size 5" (12.5 cm)

This U.S. altimeter is very rare.
